Rosenheim 2021-Full travel guide after a day trip from Munich, hotels and activities

We started our visit in Rosenheim after we parked our car in one of the parking lots in the center. It was quite busy and we had to go up a few floors to find a place, so the earlier you start in the morning the easier it is to find a place to park.

We started our visit with the city center which is charming. Everything looks gorgeous with the medieval buildings that make you think you are in an old movie.

These are some pictures from Max-Josefs-Platz:

After visiting the beautiful center, we went to the Riedergarten. From there you can see everything in a different light, the tower, the city center and the dome. It is wonderful to sit and admire everything from a bench surrounded by flowers.

From the Riedergarten, we he headed to the Catholic Church of St. Nicholas that is one of St. Catholic Church consecrated to Nicholas. The 65 meter high tower is the landmark of the city of Rosenheim. It is located between Ludwigsplatz and Max-Josefs-Platz in the center of the historic old town:

Right next to the church you can see the Mittertor that is the only one of the five former city gates in Rosenheim that has been preserved. It has been the connection between Max-Josefs-Platz and Ludwigsplatz since the 14th century.

Then we headed to a church in a village near Rosenheim. The picturesque landscapes are very beautiful. The baroque pilgrimage church of St. Johann Baptist and Holy Cross in Westerndorf am Wasen near Rosenheim is a branch church of the Pang parish of the Rosenheim deanery. The main room, built on a circular floor plan, is crowned by a huge onion dome. The roof is known as “Germany’s largest onion roof” and is one of the “largest self-supporting wooden dome structures in Europe”.

That’s how a wonderful and sunny autumn day went in Rosenheim. If you liked this travel guide, read our guide to Liechtenstein.
