Things to do

Teide Mountain Tour

Teide, or Mount Teide, is a volcano on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. Its summit (at 3,715 m (12,188 ft) is the highest point in Spain and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic. However, as Teide was formed just 170,000 years ago due to volcanic activity following a catastrophic landslide, Teide’s base is actually situated in the Las Cañadas crater (the remains of an older, eroded, extinct volcano) at a height of around 2,190 m (7,190 ft) above sea level. Teide’s elevation above sea level makes Tenerife the tenth highest island in the world. Teide is an active volcano:

Playa Los Cristianos

Honestly, when I set foot on the island and saw how the weather was, I was glad that I did not make this holiday after the wedding, because that was my chance to get a nice tan. The weather was perfect and I had a feeling of peace and fulfillment while I was on the island. As the Spanish people are very warm people, everywhere on the island people were smiling and making jokes. Everywhere we went to cafes or restaurants we left in a very good mood.

Tenerife Playa de Las Americas-view point over the ocean

Are you planning a vacation on Tenerife and wondering if the south with the towns of Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas & Costa Adeje is right for you? Then this post might help you. In this I will show you what awaits you in the places and why the tourist stronghold can also be a good address for individualists.

Tenerife Playa De Las Americas

Unfortunately for us, when we ordered the vacation we did not know that the area of Las Americas beach and Adeje Coast is for young people, and we booked a hotel in Puerto de Santiago, which is a much quieter area. But then it was not a big problem because in front of our hotel was the bus station to all the other points on the island.

We used the bus every day because we didn’t stay at the hotel for a day. We left in the morning after breakfast and returned for dinner in the evening. -young and restless … we have great memories ..If you want to have as much time as you want to visit the attractions and you don’t want to go by bus, you can always rent a car.

On the first day we took the bus and went to Las Americas beach, where there were many ticket points to the attractions of the island – Mount Teide, Loro Parque, Jungle Park, Aqua Park and of course the beautiful Siam Park.

We bought the Loro Parque & Siam Park Tickets with Transfer because this option is cheaper than the others when you combine them.

Honestly if you want to spare some money is better if you buy the tickets from the internet. On the island they are more expensive. We bought or tickets from Viator and Get Your Guide.

You can compare the prices and find the right one for you. Wherever we traveled, these two websites helped us save a lot of money on tickets.

Playa de Las Américas

We managed to go to one park per day, and one day we dedicated to Mount Teide. In the 2 days left we managed to visit the center of the island, to take a boat ride on the ocean, where we saw orcas and dolphins and of course we seen Los Gigantes, the attraction of the place where we were staying -Puerto de Santiago.

These are our wonderful memories from our Honeymoon:

Where to stay

A good night’s sleep is particularly important when you are travelling. Tenerife offers its guests a host of luxurious, charming and also out-of-the-ordinary accommodation.

Whether in the heart of the city, near the lake or surrounded by nature – Tenerife‘s hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses guarantee a relaxing and invigorating stay.

We managed to find the best three companies that offer hotels, holiday homes and transportation. These are: Booking.comTrip.com and Vrbo. We have already tested these companies and we warmly recommend them. As a result this will just bring you good deals for your next vacation.

Top hotels we recommend in Puerto de la Cruz: Hotel Tigaiga , Hotel AF Valle Orotava, Hotel Vallemar, Puerto Palace.

When we think of beautiful landscapes and wonderful islands, the first travel option that comes to mind is a cruise. So, if instead of flying and staying on one island, you prefer to explore several beautiful islands, this is the best option. On a cruise you can also relax on the days when the ship is only on the sea/ocean, but you also have the advantage of exploring more places if you are an adventurer. We collaborate with the best companies in the world and you can choose the perfect cruise:

What to eat

Arroz a la cubana – this dish consists of rice, sausage, fried egg, along with one or two fried bananas.

Ropa Vieja is known for its Caribbean origins, but the Tenerife version is quite different because chickpeas are the main ingredients. Leftover meats are added to the soup to make it even tastier, and some herbs or spices to stew with the ingredients.

Mojo sauce – It is a sauce paired with almost every meal, including the famous wrinkled potatoes (Papas Arrugadas)

Gofio – It is a type of flour made with toasted grains. It is mixed with fish broth making a meal commonly known as escaldon.

Sancocho is probably the tastiest of the traditional Tenerife dishes. It is a kind of stew based on salted fish, such as wreckfish, blue butterfish (a type of bonefish) or sea bass, sweet potato, olive oil and a generous amount of parsley.
