Linz is the capital of Upper Austria and third-largest city in Austria. In the north of the country, it is on the Danube 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of the Czech border. In 2009, it was a European Capital of Culture.

The first tourist attraction we saw was the city tower. Is the 60-meter-high landmark of the city of Enns in the Linz-Land district in Upper Austria, built between 1564 and 1568 under Emperor Maximilian II at the request of the population as a bell, watch and clock tower.

The next attraction was the Pöstlingberg, that is 539 m above sea level. It is a popular excursion destination with the Pöstlingbergbahn, with the viewing platform on the city of Linz. The Pöstlingberg is an upscale residential area of Linz.

The Linzer Mariendom was not completed until 1935, during the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Linz, the Domplatz was redesigned at the same time. The cathedral is the largest church in Austria and around two meters lower than St. Stephen’s Cathedral. It was amazing to see the dom and his amazing architecture.

The Linz Castle is located on a hill above the old town district of Linz directly on the Danube. It was breathtaking to see the city from above.Amazing experience! This is definitely a must-see in Linz.

After seeing these beautiful attractions, we headed to the city center and first,we saw the Capuchin Church(Kapuzinerkirche).

The former Capuchin Church is located in downtown Linz in Upper Austria and is a historical monument.

We kept going until we got to Lentos Art Museum Linz. As the successor to the New Gallery of the City of Linz, it is one of the most important museums of modern and contemporary art in Austria. The 130 meter long, internationally acclaimed building has around 8000 m² of usable space and is located directly on the Danube between the Nibelungen Bridge and the Brucknerhaus.

After you cross the Nibelungen Bridge you will see the Ars Electronica Center. Is right behind us!

Then we turned back on the bridge and went straight ahead to the Central Square.

This was our beautiful experience in Linz. If you liked this travel guide, read our travel guide for Graz.
