Things to do

The first tourist attraction we wanted to visit was of course Vaduz Castle, that is located on a rocky terrace above the capital. It was an amazing experience to see the country from above and the amazing landscapes. This should totally be on your list when you will visit Vaduz.

Vaduz Castle

Vaduz Castle, formerly also called Hohenliechtenstein, is located on a rocky terrace above Vaduz, the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein. Today it is the landmark of the place and the seat of the Princely House of Liechtenstein.

We drove down to the city center and started exploring it. We visited the Liechtenstein Art Museum, Liechtenstein State Museum, Vaduz Postal Museum and Liechtenstein Treasury. Here are some pictures taken in the center of Vaduz:

Then we went to the Red House and we had to ask for some instructions from the inhabitants, because work was being done on the road. They were very nice and friendly and always help tourists if they are in trouble. These are some pictures taked on our walk to the Red House:

The Red House, Vaduz

The Red House is a stepped gable house with an adjoining residential tower and torkel building located in the Liechtenstein capital of Vaduz. The building dates from the late Middle Ages and has been expanded over the centuries to include other parts of the building.

After enjoying all these attractions in the center, we went to St. Florin Cathedral, which was built from 1869 to 1873 and is located right next to the center. It is a beautiful cathedral. These are our memories:

St. Florin's Cathedral

The St. Florin’s Church in Vaduz is an east-facing neo-Gothic three-aisled church with a front tower in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, which was built from 1869 to 1873 according to plans by Friedrich von Schmidt under the direction of the architect Ignaz von Banko. The patron saint of the church is St. Florin, who lived in the 7th century and came from Matsch in Vinschgau.

Although we visited the wonderful places that Vaduz has to offer, it was as if we had not yet had enough of Liechtenstein, and we had seen some beautiful photos from a lake.Of course we wanted to see it with our own eyes, so we headed to the wonderful Gänglesee.

If you find all the above attractions in Vaduz, close to each other, to get to Ganglesee you have to drive about 20 km, and it takes approx. 20 minutes.

I can’t explain in words how beautiful it was there. You get the impression that you have reached Heaven when you see those beautiful landscapes.

Gänglesee

The Gänglesee is located in the Rätikon at 1302 m above sea level. M. Höhe near the hamlet of Steg, which belongs to the municipality of Triesenberg in Liechtenstein. The Valunerbach flows through it. The Steg reservoir, for which it serves as a mud collector, is directly connected to the Gänglesee. You can swim in the mountain lake and there are barbecue areas on the shore.
