Kivach is a waterfall in the Republic of Karelia, Russia, on the Suna River. The drop height is 10.7 m, the water flow averages 66 m³ / s. It is located 54 km north of Petrozavodsk and 13 km northwest of Kondopoga, on the territory of the Kivach nature reserve.

Smolny Convent or Smolny Convent of the Resurrection (Voskresensky, Russian: Воскресенский новодевичий Смольный монастырь), located on Ploschad Rastrelli (Rastrelli Square), on the left bank of the River Neva in Saint Petersburg, Russia, consists of a cathedral (sobor) and a complex of buildings surrounding it, originally planned as a convent.This Russian Orthodox convent was built to house Elizabeth, the daughter of Peter the Great. After she was disallowed succession to the throne, she opted to become a nun. However, her Imperial predecessor, Ivan VI, was overthrown during a coup d’état (carried out by the royal guards in 1741). Elizabeth decided against entering monastic life and accepted the offer of the Russian throne. Work on the convent continued with her royal patronage.

It served the Grand Dukes of Moscow until the 16th century and then the Russian tsars until the relocation of the capital to Saint Petersburg at the beginning of the 18th century.

Novodevichy Monastery

The Novodevichy Monastery or New Maiden Monastery in Moscow is probably the most famous Russian monastery, along with the Trinity Monastery of Sergiev Posad. It is located in a bend in the Moskva River, about 4 km southwest of the city center. In 2004 the women’s monastery, which was founded in the 16th century and expanded into the 17th century, was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The Kazan Kremlin is a historic citadel in Kazan, the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan. It was built after the capture of Kazan by the Russian troops of Ivan IV in 1552 on the ruins of the former residence of the Khan of Kazan. The Kazan Kremlin today combines elements of Christian Orthodox and Muslim architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is a cathedral in the Russian capital Moscow. It is considered the central church of the Russian Orthodox Church and, at 103 meters, is one of the tallest Orthodox sacred buildings in the world. The cathedral, which stands on the left bank of the Moscow River to the west of the Kremlin, was originally built in 1883, destroyed during the Stalin dictatorship in 1931 and rebuilt largely true to the original from 1995 to 2000.
