Plaza Murillo

The Valle de la Luna is just under ten kilometers as the crow flies southeast of La Paz, the seat of government of Bolivia. The fastest way to get to the Valle de la Luna is by taxi or rent a car from La Paz. A signposted footpath leads through the formations, which is easy to walk on in dry weather. Laguna Colorada

The Laguna Colorada is a shallow, 60 km² lake in the Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Abaroa at an altitude of 4278 m above sea level. The lake gets its name because of its striking red color, which is caused by the predominant type of algae and the high mineral content of its water. The lake is known for its large populations of flamingos of the three species Chilean flamingo, yellow-footed or Andean flamingo and James or short-billed flamingo. The Laguna Colorada is very remote and therefore only accessible via jeep tours from Uyuni, Tupiza or San Pedro de Atacama.
