The Yungas Road is a cycle route about km long which links the city of La Paz and the Yungas region of Bolivia. It draws about 25,000 tourists per year[1] and is a major La Paz tourist attraction.Many tour operators cater to downhill mountain biking, providing information, guides, transport and equipment. At least 18 cyclists have died on the road since 1998. The tourist route is a 64 km-long road with 3500 metres of descent.

The first configurations date back to the 18th century. The current layout is from the 20th century. It was conceived by Ramón García de León Pizarro, president of the Royal Court of Charcas. He ordered the construction of the portal, made up of two arches and an obelisk. The park housed a wall and statues of life-size animals such as the elephant, the cat and the parrot. During the centenary of the republic it was equipped with decorative elements. Surrounding the park is the Supreme Court of Justice, flanked by two Triumphal Arches, an obelisk and a French-style fountain, which also has a hidden iron tower surrounded by an artificial lake.

César and Wálter Terrazas Pardo had it built from reinforced concrete based on the model of Cristo Redentor in Rio de Janeiro.

The Valle de la Luna is just under ten kilometers as the crow flies southeast of La Paz, the seat of government of Bolivia. The moon valley consists of thousands of rocks, crevices, mounds of earth and crater-like formations. The Valle de la Luna was formed over millions of years by erosion and climatic contrasts. The fastest way to get to the Valle de la Luna is by taxi or rent a car from La Paz. A signposted footpath leads through the formations, which is easy to walk on in dry weather. The inhospitable area used to be fairly uninhabited, but the pressure to settle has increased recently.

Amboró National Park in central Bolivia is a nature reserve with over 912 species of birds, over 177 mammalian species including puma, ocelot, and the rare spectacled bear. Covering an area of 4,425 km² (1,709 sq mi), it is protected from human settlements, hunting, mining and deforestation, though problems with all these still exist within the park. The Carrasco National Park is placed adjacent to Amboró, and together the two form a larger conservation unit.

The Witches’ Market, also known as El Mercado de las Brujas and La Hechiceria, is a popular tourist attraction located in Cerro Cumbre, a mountain clearing in La Paz, Bolivia.The market is run by local witch doctors known as yatiri, who sell potions, dried frogs, medicinal plants like retama, and armadillos used in Bolivian rituals. The yatiri can be easily identified by their black hats and coca pouches containing amulets, talismans and powders that promise luck, beauty and fertility. Most famous of all the items sold in The Witches’ Market are the dried llama fetuses. These llama fetuses are buried under the foundations of many Bolivian houses as a sacred offering to the goddess Pachamama.

Laguna Colorada

The Laguna Colorada is a shallow, 60 km² lake in the Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Abaroa at an altitude of 4278 m above sea level. The lake gets its name because of its striking red color, which is caused by the predominant type of algae and the high mineral content of its water. The lake is known for its large populations of flamingos of the three species Chilean flamingo, yellow-footed or Andean flamingo and James or short-billed flamingo. The Laguna Colorada is very remote and therefore only accessible via jeep tours from Uyuni, Tupiza or San Pedro de Atacama.
