Bayterek Tower

The Bayterek Tower in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan is the city’s landmark. It was designed by the Kazakh architect Akmurza Rustembekov.

Big Almaty Lake

Big Almaty Lake is natural alpine reservoir. It is located in the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains, 15 km south from the center of Almaty in Kazakhstan. The lake is 2511 meters above sea level.

Charyn National Park

Charyn National Park officially, Charyn Canyon National Nature Park is a national park in Kazakhstan, stretching along the Charyn River, including Charyn Canyon. The Canyon, with its thinly stratified red sedimentary rock, is said to resemble the Grand Canyon in the US; it is however smaller – 50 km from end to end.

Medeo

The speed skating and bandy rink in Medeo is located about 16 km south of Almaty in Kazakhstan. The rink, which is surrounded by the more than 4500 meter high mountain peaks of the Transili-Alatau, is one of the most famous speed skating rinks in the world. The stadium, which opened as a natural ice rink on February 5, 1951, is located at an altitude of 1701 meters and has a capacity of 12,000 spectators.

Kaindy Lake

The Kaindy lake is a mountain lake in Kazakhstan, which is 129 kilometers southeast of the city of Almaty on the northern flank of the Kungej-Alatau. The lake is located 1867 meters above sea level in the Kolsai Lakes National Park and has a length of 400 meters. In some places it is up to 30 meters deep. It was created in 1911 by a large landslide triggered by a strong earthquake.

The Park of the 28 Panfilowzy is a park in the Kazakh city of Almaty. The approximately 18-hectare park was established in the 1870s. It is located in the Medeu district to the east of the city center. The most famous buildings in the park are the Ascension Cathedral and the Museum of Folk Musical Instruments. There is also a memorial and monuments to Ivan Panfilov and Tokash Bokin.

Mausoleum of Hodja Ahmad Yasawi

It was built by order of the Mongol ruler Timur between 1389 and 1405 in the city of Yasi. Although unfinished in parts, it is one of the largest and best-preserved structures from the time of Timur. At the mausoleum of Yasawi, he tried out construction technology and decorative art that would later shine in his capital, Samarkand.

Ile-Alatau National Park

Ile-Alatau National Park is a national park in Kazakhstan. It was created in 1996 and covers about 200,000 ha. It is situated in the mountains south of Almaty between Gorge Turgen in the east and Chemolgan River in the west. The National Park borders Almaty Nature Reserve, which is located around Pik Talgar
