Uzbekistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia. Tashkent Uzbekistan is the capital of the country that is surrounded by five countries: Kazakhstan to the north; Kyrgyzstan to the northeast; Tajikistan to the southeast; Afghanistan to the south and Turkmenistan to the south-west. Along with Liechtenstein, it is one of two doubly landlocked countries.

Things to do
Registan
The Registan in Samarkand is one of the most magnificent places in Central Asia. The ensemble of three madrasas is considered a unique example of the art of urban construction and architectural design of the city’s main square. The three madrasas are the Ulug’bek Madrasa on the west side, opposite it on the east side according to the Kosch principle the Sher-Dor Madrasa and on the north side of the square the Tilya-Kori Madrasa.
Gur Emir Mausoleum
The Gur Emir mausoleum in the Uzbek city of Samarkand is the tomb of Timur Lenk, some members of his family and other personalities from the ruler’s circle. It was built in 1403/04 and is considered the most outstanding example of the special construction of a double-shell dome developed under the Timurids. The melon-shaped, ribbed dome of the mausoleum over a high drum forms the dominant center of the complex.

The Ark of Bukhara is a massive fortress located in the city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, that was initially built and occupied around the 5th century AD.
Bibi-Khanum-Mosque
The Bibi Chanum mosque is one of the most important sights of Samarkand. In the 15th century it was one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world. Only a grandiose ruin remained of it until the middle of the 20th century, but in the meantime significant parts of the mosque have been restored through restoration.
Schahi-Sinda-Ensemble
Shohizinda is one of the most famous necropolises in Central Asia, the mausoleums of which were built between the 9th and 19th centuries. From the 14th century, the Timurid nobles were buried here. The well-preserved structures are located in the northeastern part of the city of Samarqand in Uzbekistan on the slope of the Afrasiab valley.

The Amir Timur Museum is located in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. It opened in 1996, and is dedicated to the Turco-Mongol warlord Amir Timur
Ulug Begs Observatorium
The Ulug Beg observatory, called Gurkani Zij or Zij-e Gurkani, is located two kilometers from the center of the Uzbek city of Samarkand. Today there are only ruins of the observatory and a museum. The observatory was built in 1424-1428 by the Timurid prince Ulug Beg for the observations of astronomers at the Ulugbek Madrasa.
Poi Kalon
Po-i-Kalan, or Poi Kalan, is an Islamic religious complex located in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. The complex consists of three parts, the Kalan Mosque, the Kalan Minaret to which the name refers to, and the Mir-i-Arab Madrasah.
Amir Timur Square
Amir Timur Square is a central square in the Uzbek capital Tashkent. It is named after the Central Asian military leader and conqueror Timur.
Old town of Khiva
The city fortifications Itchan-Kalas includes the well-preserved city wall and the four city gates of the historic old town of Chiwas Itchan-Kala Ata-Darwaza, Bakhtscha-Darwaza, Palwan-Darwaza and Tash-Darwaza. Like the entire old town, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
